What is Professional Braiding?
Professional braiding is a protective hair styling technique where natural hair is intertwined with extensions or styled into intricate patterns. At Posh Salon, our braiders have 5+ years of experience and use tension-controlled techniques to protect your edges and scalp health.
Box Braids
Individual plaits divided into square sections. Versatile, long-lasting (6–8 weeks), low maintenance.
Knotless Braids
Feed-in technique without a knot at the root. Less tension, more natural look, gentler on edges.
Cornrows
Braids flat against the scalp in straight or curved patterns. Foundation for weaves/wigs or standalone style.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How long do braids last?
- Box braids and knotless braids typically last 6–8 weeks with proper care. Cornrows last 2–4 weeks. We recommend a takedown appointment to prevent matting and breakage.
- Do braids damage natural hair?
- When installed correctly with proper tension (especially knotless), braids are protective. Damage occurs from excessive tension, leaving them in too long, or improper takedown. Our stylists are trained in tension-controlled techniques.
- How often should I retwist my locs?
- Every 4–6 weeks for optimal neatness and scalp health. Waiting longer can cause thinning at the roots and merging of locs.
- Can I wash my hair with braids/locs?
- Yes. Use a diluted shampoo on the scalp, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely. For locs, we recommend a residue-free shampoo. Avoid heavy conditioners on the scalp.
- What's the difference between microblading and microshading?
- Microblading creates individual hair-like strokes for a natural feathered look. Microshading uses a powder effect for a softer, filled-in brow. Combo brows combine both techniques.
- Do you offer student discounts?
- Yes, 15% off with valid student ID on weekdays (excludes semi-permanent makeup and tattoos). Mention at booking.
